Format : e-book
At the present time we are inundated with Self-help Gurus propounding ‘the law of attraction’ in various guises. The secret message from these celebrity Gurus is that what you think and affirm you will attract into your life. Many of these Gurus mislead one into thinking that ‘the law of attraction’ works from thought or from the head consciousness. This is a devastating misunderstanding and a source of great misery to millions of people. To master the law of attraction you must have heart consciousness. To develop the ability to uncover and remain with the heart consciousness takes years of spiritual development. To shift from head consciousness into heart consciousness is to turn ones world upside down, it is to let go of delusion, to outgrow the group, to mature emotionally and indeed to awaken to the truth of being; this divine quest should not to be taken lightly.Contained in this book are a set of teachings developed by a onetime unemployed, drug addict, alcoholic, suffering with agoraphobia and depression who used the simple exercises and teachings in this book to heal himself in mind and body, master the law of attraction and take control of every aspect of his life. This book will guide you realistically to mastering the law of attraction and empower you to discover that you don’t need self-help gurus or anybody else to help you become your own Guru.Read this book if you can’t seem to get what you want, are a having a spiritual crisis, if you are thinking about joining a religious organization, if you are having problems with addiction, if you don’t know who you are or if you are frightened of dying. You are holding this book in your hand because you are ready, it is time, and your heart has brought you to this book. No matter whom you are or what your history is you can become your own Guru. You are here because you are ready to find your heart, you are ready for enlightenment. |

At Last.....
Someone who gets it! For years I felt like an outsider. Plodding along like a good citizen but slowly dying inside. Trying to find happiness in drugs, booze, career, relationships and even religion. But nothing ever did it and I got no closer to the peace I was aching for. 'What the f*ck is wrong with me' was my mantra!
Then at a dark time I stumbled upon Stevie's book and the answer was right in front of me where it had always been. How had I missed it?

I'm The Guru.
I know its sounds cliched but it really has changed my life. In the space of 3 weeks, I made some really BIG decisions and now I am on the other side of the world taking a much overdue spiritual break and listening to my heart.
The book pulls no punches and tells it as it is. An antidote to the snake oil industry that personal development and spirituality has become.
If you have become disillusioned with materialistic society, the dogma of religion and are tired from all the soul searching then give this book a bash. It may just change your life.

A Message from the Heart
... Steve's message that is.
Have you, like me, ever wondered how to get that eternal peace in your heart that stops you from the never ending seek and hunt for the ecstatic moment we call "happiness"? Have you tried to figure what true enlightenment means for us "everyday humans"? Have you been frustrated because all the books and films and theories of the subject, and even those thousand year old religions have failed you one by one?
Have you wanted to find your way out of this new age labyrinth we may call "the road to spiritual awakening"? Have you felt that it was after all so over complicated, confusing and hard to ever accomplish for a simple minded guy like you? Have you struggled to be "better", get rid of your addictions and stretch your own limitations in order to get to the "other side", where all obstacles seem nothing but self-created, easy-to-skip boundaries? Have you wanted to find a guru, a real person, someone who tells you exactly what to do and where to go to find what you're looking for? One that's always there for you to give a hand?
Well go no further, you are right there where you stand. You arrived before you even set off the road. You are your own guru as Stevie H. says, and once you join him on his evoking journey of finding himself in his heart, you'll see exactly why he suggests that. His book is a long-awaited attempt to sum up all I had known before, looking at it from a clearly new perspective. Brutally honest, deeply touching and brilliantly mind awakening writing, with clever arguments and practical advice. Stevie writes here "with his own blood", and to me that gives it the greatest credit of all.
A must read.

To The Heart of The Matter
I have been reading Stevie H’s book for 3 weeks now after being told about it by a friend who came across it after reading a blog written by Stevie H. I was at a crossroads not knowing which way to go in my career and living situation. I had been sucked into a lot of the law of attraction books and had found them to be unhelpful. I was at a crossroads not knowing which way to go in my career and living situation. I had been sucked into a lot of the law of attraction books and had found them to be unhelpful. In the blog Stevie, or Stephen Humphries, his real name, makes some good points about how contemporary celebrity self-help Gurus are scamming people out of their money. I like what he said and I also liked the way he answered the questions that he received, he was very open and wise. So I bought the book online for a few dollars and read it. I followed the exercises in the book and found them really helpful. The book is inspiring, motivational and gave me back my self-esteem. This book really cuts through the BS and gets straight to the heart of the matter, and the heart of the matter is the heart. That’s it! Return to yourself, to your pure awareness; get in touch with your heart of hearts and everything else will follow. You are the Guru. It's that simple. I highly recommend this book!

A truly inspiring read
There are genuine teachers, guides and gurus with an abundance of wisdom and knowledge to share all over the world. There are also many people who will guard ‘the secret’ to enlightenment until their egos and wallets are fit to burst. The latter can leave seekers dazed, confused, brainwashed, misguided, misinformed or all of these. While you sift through the wheat and chaff, in your search, it may be just as well to be your own guru along the way. ‘You are the Guru’ is richly informative and refreshingly honest. What are we? How did we get here? Where are we going?
If, like so many others, you have reached the intellectual dead-end of "scientific" materialism this book might have something to offer you. Stevie H explains in plain language and using everyday examples a deeper level of awareness that we all can reach.
My favorite chapter is called ‘Religion’ and it is absolutely knockout, in just under nine pages the author sweeps aside Christianity, gives one of the best introductions to Buddhism and Hinduism that I have read and then even goes on to offer a deeper more fulfilling alternative to religion, all without sounding preachy.

This book has succeeded in putting eastern philosophies into a language that Westerners can easily understand and, dare I say it, transcends them. These days most people are spiritually guided by either eastern-new-age mysticism, fundamentalist dogma or atheist pseudo-scientific-skepticism when it comes to the big questions in life. What are we? How did we get here? Where are we going? Stevie H reveals a vision that I found myself relating to and a way of reasoning that didn’t fit into the usual ruts of thinking, because of that alone this book demands to be read.
There is a deep acceptance of all of man’s shortcomings in this book and that can only come from a rich and egoless wisdom. If you like thinking big thoughts you will like the penetrating insights into the nature of reality that this book offers.

This book will change your life
I have never written a review, I have never cared enough to take the time. However, I read this book a few weeks ago and it has changed my life and I want to tell other people to read this book because it will change their lives too.
This may sound extreme, but Stevie H’s ideas have healed me. I cried reading a lot of the passages because I could feel my heart opening and I feel that blocks in my life are dissolving. It is like a light in the dark, it clicked with me. Reading and re-reading the book energisers me, it is inspiring and motivational.

I love how I have found this book and not many people have read it. It feels like it was written just for me, to help me. I have been playing with the idea of going to see a doctor about some of my mental health issues but since reading the book I know I don’t need anti-depressants or anything like that.
It was so good to finaly realise that I am a good person and no matter what I have done I am no better or worse than anybody else. Finding the pure awareness state that Stevie speaks of in this book was a radical breakthrough for me. To be able to access this place of inner peace and humour is like a miracle. So simple yet so profound and so healing.
Do whatever it takes to get a copy of this book, buy it, borrow it, steal it if you have to. This book will change your life.

Love Is An Energy That Shapes The World
The reviews for this book are all good which surprises me, especially because of the nature of the book and the fact that it’s author Stevie H is completely unheard of. But despite this and despite the fact that this is an eBook release with a few forgivable but miss placed commas it is intriguingly different. It touches on subjects and theories as mystifying as Terrence McKenna’s “psilocybin mushrooms spurred the evolution of Homo sapiens”, “Love is an energy that shapes the world” and “your mind creates reality” and you have to be open minded to a lot of it.

Other reviews have hinted at the fact that this book has a hidden depth to it, this is certainly true. If you were to take it on a superficial level you may miss a lot of the wisdom and insight it holds. Where it will succeed the most, I think, is with people who are suffering with alcoholism, nervous breakdown or mental health issues. This is because it puts forwards exercises and ideas that the author has obviously used to overcome these types of problem. It will be interesting to see the impact that this book will have in these areas in the future.
Although the author is unknown and his writing not fully developed this book is in tune with a lot of very successful books by authors like Gregg Braden with the divine Matrix, Michael Talbot with the Holographic Universe, and Bruce Lipton with the Biology of belief. It is in tune with these books but it lacks the polished finish that these books may have. In some ways it is almost like a brief introduction to a lot of new age thought. It reminded me at different times of people like Gurdjieff, Alan Watts, Neville Goddard and maybe even a little bit of David Icke. Also to some extent it reminded me of a lot of contemporary Tibetan Buddhist Books I have read like “What makes you not a Buddhist” By Dzogchen Rinpoche, and “the joy of living” by Yongey Rinpoche. It was right up my street and covered all the stuff I love. If you like these authors and the kinds of philosophy associated with them you will get a lot from this book. On the whole I really enjoyed reading it and I can imagine that if I had a paperback version I would highlight a lot of the quotes and sayings in it with a marker pen.

Interesting and Honest
‘You Are The Guru’ is a very candid read and it certainly resonated with me. It covers a lot of the subjects that I have been reading about in other books over the past few years. A lot of books I read I see as being in my life because they are part of my spiritual journey, books that link into each other, this is one of those. The books appear in harmony with my development and almost always confirm my level of insight. In this respect I found the book very readable, when a book fits your view and you find yourself nodding in agreement at every other line you tend to read it quite quickly. I get a kind of energy from books like this.
I found the book got more interesting as I progressed towards the end. The chapter called ‘opening the doors’ was interesting, it tells the life story of the author and it puts the rest of the book in perspective, the style of writing begins to make more sense and the outlook of the book becomes clear once you understand where the author is coming from.
Old well known Buddhist and mystical beliefs are shown to be effective for the author who used and reinterpreted them to help him overcome alcoholism and mental health issues.
Really the book is an insight into the mind of somebody who has found a level of stability in his life after not having any; it shows a view of religion and society that a lot of people can understand and it offers some interesting ideas for dealing with life. I think people who had similar backgrounds to the author and who may be facing the same problems he faced will get a lot from this book. For me it was nice to see ideas and conclusions that I have myself written down in a very honest way by somebody else. There is a lot of wisdom in this book coming from an interesting angle and it also has a few very simple but effective exercises that you can easily do.
